Paul is uniquely placed to offer tennis coaching of the highest quality; possessing not only the highest level coaching qualification, but also a bachelor degree in Sports Science. He is a ‘one stop shop’ for long term player development, offering a myriad of comprehensive professional services (see Player Development page).

 

Paul’s experience includes:

  • Bachelor of Exercise Science and Human Movement (Victoria University, High Distinction average, 3 subject prizes for best student)
  • Tennis Australia High Performance Coach (formerly level 3, highest accreditation with only approx. 30 in Victoria)
  • 2009 Head Coach of the Australian University Team
  • played 7 years of Tennis Victoria State Grade Pennant at MCC, Dingley and Kooyong (played position no. 1 in 1998)
  • played club tennis in France and the French Tennis circuit (1997 and 1998)
  • current coach of NZ no. 1 player for 3 years; Rubin Statham (highest ranking of #273 in 2014)
  • international ATP tour coaching experience
  • former private coach of two NZ Davis Cup players
  • radio presenter on SEN 1116  (The First Serve)
 Dimi Pic Dimitrios Hatziioannou (Director) Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach

Dimi has been a highly effective Club Professional for almost 20 years. His knowledge of community tennis and programs is unsurpassed. A highly accomplished local player, his level of communication and emotional intelligence brings out the best in all his students.

 

Dimi’s experience includes:

  • Tennis Australia Club Professional
  • Bachelor of International Trade (Victoria University)
  • current coach of elite veteran players who have won state titles and Australian team selection
  • former Tennis Victoria Grade 1 Pennant player at MCC (alongside tour player Chris Guccione)
  • multiple winner of Carmelite Club Championships
  • former winner of Victorian School Boys doubles
 Marvin Marvin Barker (Head Coach PMTC) ATPCA Level 1 Qualified Coach

Marvin is a well credentialed ex-professional tennis player. Having played on the ATP tour for a number of years, Marvin has a unique advantage in understanding all aspects of the game from junior development to the aspiring professional tennis players.

  • career high singles ranking #740 (2011)
  • career high doubles ranking #343 (2012)
  • Australian National Junior Champion

Simon Kerwin  ATPCA Level 1 Qualified Coach

Simon joined the Metro Tennis Family as a student at the age of 8, where he represented Middle Park Tennis Club from juniors through to seniors. His skills as a tennis coach are evident in his ability to engage and empower his students so they can reach their full potential in a fun environment. Since completing year 12 at Wesley College he has been assisting the college with their Tennis Program.

Nathan has lived and breathed tennis for most of his life. He has played Tennis Victoria Grade 3 Pennant at Kooyong for the last two years. As a coach, he displays a pleasant and patient demeanor with all of his students. He is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Exercise Science (Sport Practice) at Victoria University.

  • Currently completing Bachelor of Exercise Science
  Simon Kahil Tennis Australia Junior Development Coach

Simon has been an extremely valued member of the Metro Tennis team for over 10 years. A very experienced coach, his highly energetic style of coaching is a penchant for his love of the game. He specializes in junior development and adult social tennis. His area of expertise is biomechanical analysis

  Simon’s experience includes:

  • Bachelor of Science in Economics

 

Arie Sutton  Tennis Australia Junior Development Coach

Arie is one of the newer coaches to join the Metro Tennis team. He has been playing tennis from a very young age and coaching for a number of years. Arie has also completed his coaching qualification in Tennis Australia Hot Shots and Community coaching  and Tennis Australia Junior Development course. Arie brings passion and energy to the team by fostering a fun environment where students of all ages can thrive the learning process.
